Overview
The mission of the Counseling Department is to build a comprehensive developmental counseling program addressing the academic, career, and personal/social development of all students. Programs developed by the Counseling Department will be driven by the unique ethnic, cultural, and economic diversity of the entire student population with the end goal of removing barriers to student learning and encouraging achievement at the highest level for each student. Through a partnership with students, educators, parents, and the community, the Counseling Department will prepare students academically and socially to be productive members and leaders of society.
The following facilities provide 24-hour assistance and have shared with the District that they will complete emergency assessments at no cost. If your child already receives support from a mental health provider, you may wish to make contact with that professional first. You may also want to check with your insurance company regarding mental/behavioral health coverage. Please note that the District does not endorse any provider, makes no representations as to the effectiveness of these providers, and makes this information available only as a helpful resource.
All students attending Bear Creek Middle School must have the following information found in the Registration Packet Checklist.
Additionally, all students born on or after January 1, 2002 and entering, advancing, or transferring into 7th grade in Georgia need proof of an adolescent pertussis (whooping cough) booster vaccination (called "Tdap") and an adolescent meningococcal vaccination (MCV4). Proof of both vaccinations must be documented on the Georgia Immunization Certificate (Form 3231). If you should have further questions, please contact our Counseling Center Office at 470-254-6080.
In February 2015, the Fulton County School System revised its School Admission Policy (JBC) for Residency Verification. The policy no longer requires families to submit an Affidavit of Residence for every year of student enrollment but instead now requires two proofs of residence upon initial enrollment into Fulton County Schools and upon entry into Kindergarten, 6th grade, 9th grade and when there is any address change. The two proofs of residence must be from the school system's approved list of verifiable residence documents: one from the approved Utility list and one from the approved Residency list.

Fulton County Schools is making it easier for parents of new students to complete their child's registration for enrollment into a Fulton County School. Parents can access the easy-to-complete, online form here. This option allows parents to control the data supplied for their student's enrollment and provide for more timely processing of the enrollment request. Parents can upload copies of the required supporting documents in .pdf, jpeg, and .tif formats. A list of required documents can be found here.
While this registration process will make it easier, parents will still need to bring their original to the school prior to the start of school. School personnel, must verify the authenticity of the documentation prior to enrollment being completed.
The Counseling program is an integral part of our students' school experience. The purpose of this site is to inform parents of the services available to assist students with their personal and academic needs.
