Talented and Gifted
Talented and Gifted in FCS
Gifted students possess unique intellectual, emotional, and social needs that require specialized educational experiences to fully develop their exceptional abilities and talents. Recognizing this, educators and policymakers emphasize the importance of tailored programs that nurture gifted individuals from childhood through adulthood, ensuring they lead fulfilling lives and contribute meaningfully to society. These programs must be designed to foster their diverse interests and capabilities, offering opportunities that go beyond the standard curriculum.
The Fulton County gifted program addresses these needs by creating an environment where gifted students can engage with intellectual peers and explore their individual strengths. The program acknowledges that no single approach can serve all gifted learners, so it incorporates a variety of instructional methods and collaborative efforts from educators and the community. Through differentiated instruction in regular classrooms and enrichment opportunities such as gifted resource, advanced courses, and internships, the program provides the flexibility and depth necessary to support the growth and potential of each gifted student.
Middle School Advanced Content Model
Students receive gifted services in a specific academic content area. Placement is based on district placement criteria, achievement scores, past academic performance, and teacher recommendations. TAG classes are part of the student's daily schedule and grades are earned in the content area(s).
