Principal's Message

Greetings Bear Creek Family,

It is with great pleasure and pride that I write to you to formally introduce myself to you first as Mr. Billups, but also as your new Principal. I come to you with over 10 years in leadership and entering my 17th year in education. I am truly honored to have been selected to serve this community, and I know my calling will be fulfilled through this mission. My priorities are People( Students, Staff, Parents, and Community Stakeholders), Policy, and Processes.

As a devoted husband and father of four beautiful kids of my own, I know the importance of the partnership between school and home. My commitment to THIS FAMILY is to continue to strengthen this partnership and ensure success for our
scholars.

Having served as a classroom teacher in Fulton county, I have a general understanding of the challenges that many of us will confront in the upcoming school year, but over the next couple of weeks, I look forward to having personal conversations with as many of you as possible to gain deeper insight into some of the challenges we face ahead, together. My commitment to THIS FAMILY is to continue to provide support, foster collaboration, and invite those who are committed to leading this turnaround work, to have real a voice at our decision making table through shared leadership.

Having spent the span of my career in every level of primary and secondary education, fostering the culture of WE for not only our staff, but most importantly our students. With everything, scholars, we must do it with Excellence, with Empathy, and with Energy. Mistakes will be made along the way, but as educators we are charged with providing support and guidance to ensure our scholars meet the expectation. We have work to do, and I’m proud to be the chosen one to lead this collaborative effort and do this work alongside you all. I leave you with one my favorite quotes from Dr. Martin Luther King, “If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.” Let’s continue to move Bear Creek Middle School forward.

Humbly Yours,

Mr. Lamar A. Billups
